Before booking

LED contraindications & precautions

These are common LED screening considerations. Suitability is assessed individually, and this list may not cover every restriction.

Do not proceed until assessed

  • Photosensitivity disorders or light-triggered (photosensitive) epilepsy. Medical clearance may be required.
  • An active infection, unexplained rash or concerning lesion until assessed.

Tell Nicolle before booking

  • Photosensitising medicines or supplements, including some antibiotics and acne medicines. Check with your pharmacist or prescriber if unsure.
  • Eye conditions or inability to use the required eye protection.
  • Autoimmune or other significant medical conditions.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding, or being under active medical treatment.

Do not stop prescribed medicines to make yourself eligible for treatment. Medical clearance may be required.

Preparing for your appointment

  • Arrive without makeup on the treatment area where possible. Your skin will be prepared in the clinic.
  • Allow 30 minutes for a standalone LED appointment, or an additional 20 minutes when booked as an eligible treatment add-on.
  • If LED follows skin needling or another skin treatment, follow the preparation instructions for that treatment.

What happens during treatment

  • We discuss suitability and the proposed LED setting. Your skin is prepared and eye protection is used according to the device instructions.
  • You rest beneath the LED dome. Let Nicolle know immediately about eye discomfort, pain, headache or feeling unwell.
  • The 30-minute booking includes preparation and setup; actual light exposure follows the device instructions and your treatment plan.

What to expect afterwards

  • Your response and treatment plan are reviewed individually. Further appointments may be discussed without a guarantee of a particular result.
  • If LED accompanies needling or a peel, recovery and activity restrictions follow that treatment’s aftercare plan.

Aftercare

  • Follow your agreed skincare advice and routine sun protection.
  • Do not add extra light treatments at home without checking your plan.
  • Contact the clinic about persistent irritation or an unexpected reaction. Seek prompt medical assessment for eye pain or changes in vision.
